The Bloodfast Emergency Volunteer Service (EVS) was established in Kingston upon Hull in 2007, Its aim - to assist the local NHS trust with the carriage of urgent medical supplies vital to patient care, using motorcycles.
The service was offered free of charge on a charitable basis.
At the same time JS Logistics run by John Spinks, were offering their services to the NHS in Hull as an emergency courier service.
Raising the funds to maintain Bloodfast EVS as a charity was difficult and time-consuming and after some discussion, John Spinks and the original members of Bloodfast EVS decided to amalgamate the two organisations together and from this formed Bloodfast EVS LTD.
The company is run as a not for profit organisation.
Thanks to its reputation for service the company continued to expand and in 2014 it was recognized for its work within the community at Hull business week winning the inaugural “Made in Hull for the People of Hull” award.
In 2015 we were runners up in the same award category.
We currently have 10 full time driving staff along with 5 part time and several volunteers. We also have 4 co-ordinators who help run the office and deal with all incoming enquiries and job requests.
All of our drivers go through various training courses to cover all aspects of our work including blue light response, carriage of radioactive materials and movements of blood samples. All training is checked over and renewed when necessary to keep everyone up to date with current regulations and standards.
